Autumn is an exciting time for the design world. Trade shows are in full flow across the globe and the pace is building towards (whisper it) Christmas. 2016 however, feels special. Opening this week, the London Design Festival is now in its fourteenth year and has developed a reputation as one of the most innovative festivals in the world. From 7-27 September, the London Design Biennale takes over Somerset House and on 24 November the Design Museum opens in Kensington.
Our typographic range takes inspiration from handwritten neon installations so we will be sure to visit the Grundy Art Gallery before the end of the year to see work by Martin Creed, Tracey Emin, Eddie Peake and the many other artists featured in Blackpool's major survey of neon art.
The products that we show in New York represent six months of hard work and we are always a little anxious to see how our collections will be received. We needn't have worried: we were rushed off our feet throughout the show and able to treat ourselves to a celebratory cocktail in the departure lounge at JFK. Then, imagine our delight to arrive back in the UK to a gorgeous image of two of the unsuspecting team Block gracing the homepage of NY Now! We can't wait to get stateside again in February with some new tricks up our sleeves.
