We first discovered Patternistas when they tagged our Geometric Photo Clip on Instagram, holding one of their stylish designs. They discovered our new Photo Clips at our Cardiff stockist Home by Kirsty (below). Follow @patternistas inspiring (and addictive) feed on Instagram.
Suzanne and Chris Carpenter are the husband and wife team behind creative studio. With a background in branding and illustration, they formed Patternistas in December 2015 in order to work together full time and focus on their fascination for pattern. They collaborate with both manufacturers, architects and interior designers to create ‘Patternistas’ collections, also creating patterns for particular projects or environments.
The postcards used with our photo clips (below) feature bespoke London patterns created for the offices of PWC who have two buildings on the banks of the Thames. The patterns were digitally printed onto performance fabrics by Panaz and they have just been shortlisted for a Mixology Award, an event that celebrating the best in the interior design industry. The London patterns are now available to the wider market for application on a range of hard and soft surfaces.
Suzanne and Chris love to work with clients who want to break away from the bland, creating patterned products and eye-popping, decorative interiors that stimulate the senses and put smiles on faces. Of course their motto appeals to us… "if your favourite colour is grey - stay away!"
Passionate believers in the power of creative play, Patternistas are often asked to do creative workshops. Sadly we missed their Clerkenwell Design Week workshop, where architects and designers were invited to decorate a Kite chair using MT masking tape. Inspired by their new collection of performance upholstery fabrics 'TRACE', participants were encouraged to engage with the pattern making process.
