UK design studio Block has announced a collection of hand-cast concrete jewellery.
Inspired by the Brutalist buildings of post-war Britain, Block have created wearable architecture in a style typical of the movement.
New for Christmas 2018, the range will include statement concrete earrings, rings and pendants, each with a touch of colour in Block’s signature style.
Tara Ashe, lead designer, said: “I have always been drawn to the modernist architecture of the British cityscape. The angular grey monoliths of the controversial Brutalist movement are now recognised as design icons within their own right.”
Tara was keen to work with concrete, recognising its capability for sculpting dynamic shapes and bold lines.
Tara said: “Each hand-cast piece embraces the character of concrete, a lively non-sterile material. The jewellery's surface reflects its history and environment, presenting imperfections and changing with you and your environment.”
The Brutalist jewellery collection adds to Block’s current range of desk and homeware.
The jewellery starts at an RRP of £22.00 for the ring up to £30.00 for the large pendant. They will be available to order online at www.blockdesign.co.uk.
